What Are The Costs For Transporting MW Wind Turbines

To estimate the costs for Transporting Large MW Wind Turbines by road, several factors need to be considered. These factors include the total number of parts the turbine consists of in a dismantled condition,  in particular the number of tower sections, rotor blades, and their individual weights and sizes, plus the weights and dimensions of the Nacelle, Rotor, Nose Cone, Controller Cabinet and other miscellanous, smaller parts which go are either boxed or strapped onpallets. This determines the total number of trucks required, their type and length, then the distance, fuel costs, tolls, permits, and any other applicable fees.

Here are the key considerations and steps for estimating the cost:

Distance and Route: The total distance to travel will greatly impact the cost.

Weight and Dimensions: The weight of the cargo of a Mega Watt Turbine are usally of considerable size and weight and in most cases require special handling and possibly additional permits or escorts.

Type of Lorry: The type of lorry will be crucial in determining the cost. For such large, heavy, and long cargo, specialized heavy haulage lorries are alway required.

Fuel Costs: The fuel costs for covering any distance, short or long must be factored in, considering the size and total weight of the cargo.

Tolls and Permits: Tolls and permits for crossing various countries and regions along the route will add to the overall cost.

Insurance and Security: Insurance and security measures for such a valuable and specialized cargo must also be considered.

Customs and Import/Export Fees: Import/export fees and customs duties at the border crossings should be accounted for.

Local Regulations and Restrictions: Local regulations and restrictions, including any restrictions on the dimensions of cargo that can be transported on certain roads, should be researched and in some cases a detailed route survey undertaken to determine possible obstacles which can affect the desired shortest or quickest route. Re-routing of some or all trucks maybe required due to underpasses, fly-overs or bridges along the preferred route may have restrictions to max. height or max. weight of the cargo. The same applies to width of roads being too narrow or the angle at road turnings may be too sharp  for turning into. In some cases, an advance team may need to be dispatched ahead of the transport to prepare ‘Just-In-Time’ temporary removal of public or private property such as Traffic Lights, Road Signs or part removal of a land owner’s fence or wall. Such temporay removal and preperation works require in most if not in all cases the timely submission of applications to obtain  permissions from relevant local authorities or private individuals. Setting aside a contingency to cover the costs for such occurances or unforseeables is advisable

Market Rates: Lastly, market rates for such transportation services should be researched and compared by obtaining quotes from a number of haulage serice providors.

Given the complexity of this task and the need for specific details, it’s best to consult with specialized logistics companies or freight forwarders who can provide accurate cost estimates based on the specific requirements of your transsportation project.

Can MWPS provide Used Wind Turbines Finance?

Unfortunately, the answer is no when it comes to Wind Turbines Finance. MWPS is not active in the financing business and MWPS does not offer any financing packages for the products offered on our website. Neither do the sellers that MWPS represents provide any finance options. The wind turbine business and especially the ‘used’ or ‘second hand’ wind turbine business is knowingly a ‘strictly cash’ transfer business where the release of goods is generally only released by the seller/owner after 100% of the sales price has been paid.

There are a small number of high street banks that offer financial services for ‘new’ wind turbines and renewable energy equipment or financial institutions which are specialized and dedicated in finance packages for worldwide renewable energy projects which can be easily found on the world wide web. Usually, those sources do only provide finance on ‘new’ equipment and not on used or second-hand equipment.

Please note that neither MWPS nor the sellers/owners MWPS represents can engage in sales or purchase negotiations if the enquirer has not got 100% finance in place beforehand.
